Introducing BILLY RHYZE

the 7ft. rabbit who caught lightening in a bottle

Born in Texas in 1977, Billy Rhyze's work is a overture of innovation and visual prowess. Embarking on a creative odyssey, he transitioned from traditional illustration to pioneering a unique genre of abstract expression he aptly named "Reverie", which is indirectly guided by the artistic philosophies of Thomas Kinkade.

Handcrafting each piece from the ground up, Billy uses reclaimed metal as his main substrate that allows him to make light dance against the visual stasis of surrounding elements. His whimsical approach, and eye for design, dictate rhythm lines that hypnotize.

"Neogenesis," his first attempt at abstract art in late 2018, paved the way for the light-reactive metal concept that quickly became his benchmark style he employs today. Using a variety of water-based paints, Billy beckons viewers down the rabbit hole of a new visual paradigm, a testament to his uncanny ability to harmonize form and luminescence through the use of what critics have described as “visual alchemy”.

Recipient of Creative Quarterly's top honor, Billy's work has graced galleries from Dallas and Santa Fe to the Hamptons in New York. His art is more than pigment and light; it's an expedition through creative innovation, artistic reverence, and the boundless world of abstract expressionism.

“At its essence, abstraction is nothing more than art that makes sense yet defies logic. Therefore, the key to creative success in abstract works is really quite simple. Always bet on yourself. Then, do whatever work is necessary to stack the odds in your favor with reckless abandon.
There are no hard and fast rules at play here, only guidelines. Taking that into consideration, making remarkable abstract art means to bend that notion to your whim. That is the secret to my magic”.
